General Description

This class is designed to help people bond with their dog while teaching their dog to respond to basic but important real-life cues. Working continuously for 6 weeks builds and cements a bond between owner and dog. Shy and fearful dogs gain confidence and trust in their person, while boisterous and playful dogs gain self control and understand that barking gets them nothing but attention deprivation. Bullying dogs learn to keep their cool as they learn that their person's attention is worth more than bullying others! This class is for newly adopted dogs, those who have graduated puppy classes (Including our S.T.A.R. Puppy Class), old dogs, all dogs are welcome! This time spent with your pup is invaluable, especially when being introduced to a new person or a new home. Classes are taught using lure reward, treats, toys, and positive reinforcement! We pride ourselves on teaching useful, practical cues for everyday human/canine companion living. We also love having fun doing it! Let's face it, if it's not fun, it's not worth doing!

Quick Look

• Make sure your dog comes to class hungry!

• No dogs come to the first class, since it's an orientation for the handlers

• Classes limited to 4 teams

• All classes will be held at Gilly's Dog House (102 Brown Ave., Chesterton, IN)

• Please bring your pup's vaccination history

• Required materials:

  • Small sized treats

  • Flat buckle collar for ID tags

  • Martingale Collar or Gentle Leader or Easy Walk Style Harness

  • 6' lead

  • 30ft long line (non-retractable)

  • Clean up baggies

  • Absolutely NO slip, choke, prong, or correction collars
